The Ultimate Guide to Custom Yoto Cards: From Playlist to Sticker Label

If you own a Yoto player, you already know how magical those little physical cards are for kids. But the real superpower of the Yoto ecosystem is the Make Your Own (MYO) cards. Whether you want to turn a favorite audiobook MP3, a playlist of family voice notes, or your child's favorite music into a physical card, the process is incredibly rewarding.

In this step-by-step guide, we’ll walk through how to build your playlist (on mobile vs. desktop), add custom pixel icons, link it to a card, and use YotoLabels.com to print a gorgeous sticker for the perfect finish.

Step 1: Create Your Playlist (Mobile App vs. Desktop)

Before you can tap a card to play your audio, you need to build the digital playlist in your Yoto account. You can do this on either your phone or a computer. Here is how they compare.

Option A: Using the Desktop Web Creator (Recommended)

While you can do this on your phone, the desktop dashboard is significantly easier if you are uploading multiple files or large audiobooks.

  1. Go to my.yotoplay.com and log in with your Yoto account details.

  2. Click on Add Playlist in the top left corner.

  3. Give your playlist a title and an author/artist name.

  4. Drag and drop your audio files (MP3 or M4A formats work best) directly into the window.

  5. Rearrange the tracks by dragging them up or down into your preferred order.

Option B: Using the Mobile Yoto App

Great for quick updates, linking podcast feeds, or if your audio files are already saved on your phone.

  1. Open the Yoto App and tap on the Library tab.

  2. Scroll across the top menu and select Make Your Own.

  3. Tap the Tap here to create a playlist banner at the top.

  4. Give your playlist a name and tap Add Audio. You can choose files stored on your phone or link to an external stream/podcast URL.

Step 2: Upload Custom Yoto Pixel Icons (Optional, but really fun to have!)

One of the coolest features of the Yoto Player is the little pixel display. By default, Yoto assigns generic numbers to your tracks, but you can customize these with fun icons!

  1. Open your playlist in the Desktop Creator (this is much easier on a computer).

  2. Look at your tracklist. Next to each track number, you will see a small square icon slot. Click it.

  3. A library of official Yoto icons will pop up. If you want something custom, click Upload Icon.

  4. The Specs: Yoto icons are 16x16 pixel grids. You can find thousands of free, parent-made pixel icons on Yotoicons, fan forums, Pinterest, or Facebook groups, or draw your own using free sites like Piskel or Lospec

  5. Select your custom pixel image, upload it, and assign it to the track.

Step 3: Link the Playlist to a Physical MYO Card

Now that your playlist is living safely in your digital library, it’s time to flash it onto a physical Make Your Own card.

Step 4: Create sticker labels

Use tools like Canva, Google Slides or even Gemini to create labels as images for your Yoto cards. Once the images are ready, you can upload them to yotolabels.com which formats it nicely for printing in the correct size. I bought A4 sticker papers here which works with standard inkjet and laser printers. Cut and stick them on the MYO cards.
